Sci-fi genre and Zombie Genre
sci-fi genre has a lot to do with zombie genre due to the fact that in most films a virus is made from some lab or from outer space and is spread from person to person as an infection changing them and turning them in to something else like a zombie.
Similarities
zombie films and the invasion of the body snatchers and its remake the invasion have a lot in common with zombie movies such as they both include a virus or taking over of the human body against its will and changing it into what form it wants plus both films include the zombies (referring to actual zombies and the invaders) trying to take over the world with the main character losing a friend or family member along the way and nearly getting trapped but then finding a way out or being rescued where they find a cure and then stop the takeover of the zombies.
In conclusion a zombie film is like the invasion of the body snatchers + remake with the plot-line going from fine at the start of the day going on with your lives then the discovery and noticing something wrong then trying to survive and escape then losing a close friend and finally escaping and dealing with the outbreak.

"the invasion of the body snatchers" and "the invasion" FEARS
There are two types of fear: explicit fear which deals with fears that are clearly seen like blood and gore and implicit fear which deals with fears that are not seen or are hidden in the movie as feelings or sensing something wrong.
Invasion of the body snatchers
"The invasion of the body snatchers" has explicit fears like the pods, the people when they find out they are the pod people, being attacked, going to sleep and having to run for your life.it also has implicit fears such as a feeling that someone is different even though they don't look different, that the world is after you and at the time of release the movie is about the fear that communism will succeed and change your family and friends. An example is a quote from the film "my husband is not my husband"
The Invasion
"The invasion" released in 2007 has explicit fears like seeing the people who are turning into the "aliens", who are "aliens", what the "aliens" are doing ie capturing the people who haven't turned yet, running away from them, losing your friends and family, going to sleep and the main character trying to get her son back.
it also has implicit fears like worrying about her son changing, of the future, whats she going to do and what will happen to her son.
Sci-Fi films from the 1950s and recent times
All the sci-fi films from the 1950s are about the earth being invaded by some sort of alien species
and how they are going to fight it for the sake of their future and like "the invasion of the body snatchers"
their is a lot of drama and fear of people not seeming like they should be ie "my husband is not my husband" which was based on the fears of the real times of communism succeeding and spreading to everyone.
while all the recent sci-fi films all deal with the same thing but not to exploit a fear but to entertain the audience.
Their are some differences in the films from the 1950s and the recent such as the recent also being a hybrid of zombie films but their are still a lot of similarities such as invasion, aliens, and fear.
From the 1950s to the recent times sci-fi films have changed in the way they are done the graphics and the detail but they are still mainly based on the same ideas and story line but just in a different way.
